Welcome to "Thoughts for Moms"

Dear Friends,

"Thoughts for Mom" is a special place to receive spiritual sustenance related to the vocation of motherhood. Here I will post various reflections — from popes, saints, and Catholic writers, to my thoughts and yours — to help us better live our mission as Moms, and to help us give our vocation the depth of meaning God intended it to have.
Once more, you and I both have something to share, so please join me in adding meditations and personal insights in the comments section under each post, or contacting me at holly@mothersruleoflife.com with your own reflection to add.

God Bless,
Holly Pierlot

Setting Our Hearts on Fire

"Faith seeks understanding. It is intrinsic to faith that a believer desires to know better the One in whom he has put his faith and to understand better what He has revealed; a more penetrating knowledge will in turn call forth a greater faith, increasingly set afire by love. The grace of faith opens the eyes of your hearts ..."

A friend of mine wrote that her prayer had slipped because she did not have access to a certain prayer magazine she always used. In a way, her prayer life went stale without the fresh insights of meditation and intellectual formation in the faith.

The Catechism tells us that, if we seek to know God more, we will study about HIm more and this study will begin to enlighten us as to God Himself, His plan for us, and will increase our faith, as well as set our hearts on fire for God, more and more. The intellect and the heart are connected, and the mind feeds the heart and rouses love when in touch with truth.

This calls for spiritual reading and meditation and faith study to then hold a high place in our daily mother's rule of life.
