Welcome to "Thoughts for Moms"

Dear Friends,

"Thoughts for Mom" is a special place to receive spiritual sustenance related to the vocation of motherhood. Here I will post various reflections — from popes, saints, and Catholic writers, to my thoughts and yours — to help us better live our mission as Moms, and to help us give our vocation the depth of meaning God intended it to have.
Once more, you and I both have something to share, so please join me in adding meditations and personal insights in the comments section under each post, or contacting me at holly@mothersruleoflife.com with your own reflection to add.

God Bless,
Holly Pierlot

Just Listen to Jesus...

"But how can we become saints, friends of God? An initial response to this question is this: To be saints it is not necessary to perform extraordinary deeds and works, nor is it necessary to possess exceptional charisms. But this only tells us what sainthood is not. The positive answer is that to become a saint it is above all necessary to listen to Jesus and then to follow him and not lose heart in the face of difficulties."

The Blessed Mother never led a prayer group or began a hospital or founded a school, nor moved mountains nor did miracles. None of it. Nothing big, nothing fancy, except the big and fancy task of being a loving presence to her family and those around her.

She prayed. She worked. She loved her family. She did her housework. She cooked. She did laundry. She cuddled Jesus. She told him stories. She tried to be virtuous. She prayed some more.

We can do this. We can DO this.
