Software for Rule Charts?

Dear Holly,
Are you familiar with any software that would easily enable me to set up 'blocks' of time? I use software for my calendar....but I would like to see something that is similar to the charts in your book. I feel like things repeat, I would like to tweak week by week if needed - and if it was 'electronic' that would be so much EASIER!!! Any help would be appreciated!! Perhaps you could post this request to your website to see if any others have suggestions?

I welcome the opportunity for other moms to help you out on this!

For me, the best program I ever used which I found helpful was the Appleworks for my Mac! But somehow, when we had our Mac replaced, I lost that program.

So I am now using the Microsoft Word for Mac - the Excel Program. It helps me make up my charts, has a built in memory per column, and I can use it without being an expert. It prints nicely too.

I just don't know how to expand the boxes to allow for larger entries than a single line, but I am sure it can be done!

MROL readers - any other suggestions?

I can't seem to figure out Excel...so I have used Microsoft Word. There is a table auto format that you plug in the number of columns and rows and decide how wide and deep each section is. What I love is that I can erase lines to make some areas bigger that are common for everyone or for larger chunks of time. It has made the weekly updating/changing pretty easy.

Here's how you change 'widths' of Excel columns....

To change width - double-clicking on top of col. will AUTOMATICALLY widen the column to the widest cell..... for example - if your 'column' listed : Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania - and you double-clicked on the actually 'letter' for the column (A, for example) the column would widen to the Pennsylvania word -

ok - let's say you're doing MANY words and you might now want a cell that says 'wash towels and sheets' to be the width of that column. Instead, you
might want to 'word wrap' - which means - the column could be 11 characters wide (to hold 'wash towels') and the words 'and sheets' would be beneath.

To do this:
click on that 'cell'. then select - from pull-down menu at the top - Format, Alignment, and click on 'wrap text' box.

ok - here's ONE MORE THING that is WAY COOL. If you want to manually adjust width of cells without 'guessing' cell width of 13.5 versus 15.25, etc... -
you simply take your cursor to the RIGHT EDGE of the column name (the little line between A and B, for example. DRAG that little line - and it will widen and shorten the column to the left of the line.
