Welcome to "Thoughts for Moms"

Dear Friends,

"Thoughts for Mom" is a special place to receive spiritual sustenance related to the vocation of motherhood. Here I will post various reflections — from popes, saints, and Catholic writers, to my thoughts and yours — to help us better live our mission as Moms, and to help us give our vocation the depth of meaning God intended it to have.
Once more, you and I both have something to share, so please join me in adding meditations and personal insights in the comments section under each post, or contacting me at holly@mothersruleoflife.com with your own reflection to add.

God Bless,
Holly Pierlot

Renouncing Unwillingness & Murmuring...

"...what is commanded is to be done, not fearfully, tardily, nor coldly, nor with murmuring, nor with an answer showing unwillingness, for the obedience...is given to God..."
St Benedict at http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10459a.htm

Hmmm... all we do is a request from the loving God who made us... the God who needs our fidelity and full cooperation.

No little action which we are called upon to perform is too small or unimportant, but carries with it a divine meaning and sacred trust.

Let's put aside our reluctance to get out of bed 'on time' and rise from bed with an "OK Jesus - for you and for your intentions"...

Let us firmly discipline our own grumbles and complaints... "OK Father - I will do what you ask because YOU ask it. I love you."

Let us beg God's forgiveness for our fear and trust in his goodness- "Lord, I know with your strength and grace that you will heal me and help me - I believe - help my unbelief!"

And let us forge on - trying every day to become more and more faithful to his call - our obedience manifest to the dictates of our vocation - and praise him for his free gift of love despite our feeble attempts...

Wow! I really needed to see this today (and every day, in fact)!

God bless you, Holly, for letting God speak to us through you.
