Personal Healing
Dear Holly,
Thank you so much for your gift to Catholic mothers. Your story is so like my own, and I am hoping you know of a way to find a trustworthy priest who is able to pray over someone who has been through the same types of life trauma you describe -- from coming from a broken home all the way to having your entire life/family/fertility devastated by a very spiritually ill priest who encouraged the use of "intermittent possession." I need the kind of healing you describe. I am deeply wounded, cry regularly and have no where to turn. If you can recommend a priest near us... or an order or know how to locate priests who are able to heal in the ways you describe I will thank you forever.

Thanks so much for writing. One thing I always say to ladies who contact me, like you, was that when I was looking for my answers, it was my priest who discerned this for me - not something I discerned myself. And to that end, I would also recommend that you permit a priest to discern this over time.
Hence I guess the next step then becomes finding an appropriate spiritual director. And I have to tell you also- this is not just your business, but something God in interested in helping you find as well. Thus, it is not like looking for a needle in a haystack - you can ask the Lord, and the Blessed Mother to find you who you need - and then wait, and pray and trust.
Thirdly, I have to say, as time goes on, I am more and more convinced about the interrelatedness of our persons - the complex weave of physical, psychological and spiritual parts - and that any solution has to deal with ALL THREE ELEMENTS.
So, my personal advice to you, and the advice I personally go by, is to look to what physical things you can do re diet & nutrition & allergy & sleep & exercise; and address the psychological - by working thru any personal issues and beginning to pay attention to thought patterns; and the spiritual - by committing to daily prayer, regular Eucharist and confession, and adequate spiritual reading.
Take the year - 2006 - and begin to look at ALL these areas and leave the Lord the task of finding you the people you are meant to find. There is not so much ONE 'answer' as there are probably quite a 'few' answers, which all need to be answered in combination with each other.
