Night Shift and Sleep
Dear Holly,
I am a single working outside-the-home mom on midnite shift. My daughter goes to Catholic school & my son just turned 3..I need to sleep during the day & don't want to put him in daycare but am looking to perhaps put him in pre-school....any ideas on how to find time to sleep? My folks keep my children at nite, which is great & next Aug, my son will attend the same school as my daughter, but am having trouble just now w/my lack of sleep...any suggestions? Thanks in advance, I love your book!

I am afraid you have baffled me with this one. I will open it up to all the MROL Website readers - perhaps someone shares your experience. If it was me, I would probably be looking at changing employment options.
Readers???
Can you hire a high school student so you can get a few hours sleep in the afternoon early evening? Also set up a safe room with tv,toys etc. This is from a mom with four kids and migraines so I know.
Your only option really is to send your child to daycare for a halfday. It doesn't seem so bad that way. You need a few hours sleep when you know your child is cared for. You sleep deeper.I had the same delema except with three children. I worked nights too. Get a rest on the couch before you have to leave while the children play on the floor in front of you or they watch a video. Don't discount your parents taking them a little earlier so you can have a little sleep too. Good luck. I will be thinking of you.
