Welcome to "Thoughts for Moms"

Dear Friends,

"Thoughts for Mom" is a special place to receive spiritual sustenance related to the vocation of motherhood. Here I will post various reflections — from popes, saints, and Catholic writers, to my thoughts and yours — to help us better live our mission as Moms, and to help us give our vocation the depth of meaning God intended it to have.
Once more, you and I both have something to share, so please join me in adding meditations and personal insights in the comments section under each post, or contacting me at holly@mothersruleoflife.com with your own reflection to add.

God Bless,
Holly Pierlot

Profound words of wisdom from a friend of mine, Joe

The words of my friend Joe are truly profound:

If nothing changes, nothing changes.

If we don't take steps to bring about good, positive and holy change in our lives, nothing will happen.

God's grace usually doesn't fall from heaven and swamp us in a tidal wave of strength BEFORE we decide to do something - if it did, we would have no real free will.

But God does indeed pour tidal waves of grace upon us, and there is only one thing which accesses these outside of our prayer, and that is our DECISION.

We must decide, choose and begin to act, and THEN, God empowers us. And while He is subtly present in the inspiration to do good as well, the 'actual' grace needed to help us do what we ought comes with the exercise of our free will.

So today, when things are bugging us; when we know things can be better; when we really could get closer and closer to God, just by offering all our duties and joys to Him... let us ponder that

If nothing changes, nothing changes...
