Unable to Follow a Rule

Dear Holly
I want to follow a Mother's Rule, but I just can't. I can't even get through the questions in your book.

Many times before I began my mother's rule, I had heard about a rule of life through my reading. Each time I had come upon it, I had found it strangely attractive and intriguing. Nonetheless, I didn't act on it until that crazy month of May five years ago.

Place yourself in God's hands. Consecrate yourself to Mary. Tell them "If you want me to have a Mother's Rule, then please bring it about". Continue to pray.

It must come from inside you, as a response of love to God's request, not just because you read a book about it, nor because your friends are doing it. When the time comes, MROL will be in your bookshelf, ready to help you.

For me, the pressure became so great, that I didn't really have a choice - it was sink or swim, and I chose to swim, but not without dunking under the water a few times...

The time has to be right. When my husband showed me the book in May of this year, I had been praying for help. I had already been using Flylady's system for a couple of years and wanted a way to make it Catholic. God answered me!

I struggled mightily with my life & my daily schedule when I was first married, and especially after my first child was born, but if I had found MROL then, I don't think i would have been ready for it. It would be on a shelf gathering dust. I would have been afraid to change back then, even though I desperately knoew I needed to.
